What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones
(Simon Pulse, Paperback)
Rating:
I've been hearing about this book for awhile, reading great reviews, so I thought I'd try it. I read it straight through so it definitely kept me interested. It's written in verse so that also makes it a quick read. At first I had a hard time with the verse-style writing, but the more I read the more I enjoyed it. Sones is really good at conveying emotions and events in just a few words. That being said, the book wasn't as great as the reviews made it sound. Sophie's mom wasn't very fleshed out and I was pretty annoyed with the boys that she likes. I'm not going to write Sones off though...I've added her other books to my stack of books to be read and I'll let you know what I think of her other stuff.

Truthfully, i loved this book and have never read a better book. Her style confused me at first, also, but when i came to understand it, i could not put it down. This book kept me interested. I am a teenager, so i cant relate to what she was talking about. This book made me feel like i was the girl dealing with all of this. It was an outstading book and there is no other way to explain it.
ReplyDeleteThe more verse novels I read, the better I like them. I think it's a style that takes getting used to though.
