Pretty Tough by Liz Tigelaar Book Review

Pretty Tough by Liz Tigelaar
(Razorbill, Paperback)

Rating:

Sisters Charlie and Krista used to be best friends. But ever since Krista turned her back on Charlie in a crisis moment, things have changed. Now Krista is the pretty, popular, smart one and Charlie is more of a loner who'd rather go surfing than to the latest party. The two sisters pretty much ignore each other until Charlie tries out for Krista's soccer team. I actually didn't know that much about soccer before I read this book so if you're not a soccer fan, no worries. I got sucked into Charlie's story (the book is really more about her) because she wasn't afraid to go her own way. Of the two sisters, Charlie seemed more at peace with herself than Krista does. But in the end, both sisters teach the other about team-playing and about being friends. All in all, this was a great book and I've actually joined a soccer team since reading it!

  2. I really like playing soccer! I am still trying to overcome my desire to duck whenever the ball comes flying at me but other than that I'm starting to get the hang of it. :-)

  7. Your local bookstore probably has a copy. And they can easily order it for you if they don't have it in. It's definitely worth buying!

  8. Pretty Tough is a great book. Any girl would like this book. I really do not like to read but I loved reading this book. If you don’t know anything about soccer you do not have to worry. The author, Liz Tigelaar, did a fantastic job at explaining how soccer worked and what was going on. This book is about two disagreeing sisters, Krista and Charlie. The book is more about Charlie who is a loner and would rather go surfing than go shopping or go to a party. Krista on the other hand is the total opposite of Charlie. She is pretty, popular and loves to shop and go to parties with her friends. This book takes place in sunny Malibu, California at Beachwood High School. The two girls were very close when they were younger. But that all changed in Charlie’s freshman year at Beachwood high. Charlie gets recruited to try out for Krista’s soccer team. When Charlie makes the team Krista is furious. The soccer coach says if they do not start getting along then they both will get off the team. It usually takes me a month or two to read a book, but it took me about a week to read this book.

  10. I absolutely loved this book. I read Playing with the Boys first and new right away I had to find the other book that was written by her. I read it in about two hours and am absoulutely in love with it. I found myself comparing my self to Charlie and Krista and I felt like I was in the book. I would love if there were more books by her. They are a great read and I enjoy reading them over and over again.
